order to maintain a high level of customer service, the freight
department is split into two key areas.
The first deals with freight suppliers and
involves daily contact with regard to sailing schedules, freight
bookings and pricing on new and existing routes. Sailing schedules
are automatically received on a weekly basis and our computer
system is updated to reflect the latest sailings. Once a vehicle
order has been processed, a computer generated freight booking
is sent to the respective shipping line and they are requested
to confirm acceptance of our booking within 24 hours. With our
suppliers understanding the importance of their role within our
business, they realise that up-to-date information is a vital
ingredient to the smooth running of our operation and consequently
any alterations to our bookings are passed on immediately and
the customer advised accordingly.
The second function of the department is in
the after sales area. Although it is important to offer a product
at a competitive price, we recognise that it is equally important
to deliver within the specified time period and be in position
to advise you of the whereabouts of your vehicle at any given
time. With transit times to certain destinations taking up to
7-9 weeks and involving combination shipment by sea and road transport,
it is important that we have control of all shipments. For this
reason, we have established a computer driven vehicle tracking
system which allows us to monitor the journey of your vehicle
and keep you informed of its location and status. Once a freight
booking has been established with the shipping line, you are informed
about the key stages of the shipping schedule in the form of a
shipping update. The key stages of the journey are as follows:
