| TGS have recently
completed a training seminar at the purpose-built Michelin Driving
Centre in Groß Dölln which is located near Berlin, Germany.
The Michelin Driving Centre is used by companies
such as Mercedes-Benz and Audi for their advanced driver training
and it proved to be an ideal location for TGS.
The event was split into three parts.
Day 1 (Monday) - German Red Cross volunteers
for an intensive 1 day course.
Day 2 and 3 (Tuesday and Wednesday) - mainly German NGOs attended
a 2 day seminar.
Day 4 and 5 (Thursday and Friday) - mainly German NGOs attended
a 2 day seminar.
Each seminar was split into six separate workshops each of which
ran for 1 hour 45 minutes. There were two off road driving courses,
which provided a range of terrains to negotiate. The other workshops
covered vehicle maintenance, winching techniques, spare parts and
accessories, basic map reading and navigation and HF communications.
Although intensive, the seminars provided basic
training in some of the most significant areas of vehicle and equipment
usage. All participants should find this knowledge of use in the
months and years to come.
In the evening, the TGS team and the participants
were able to relax together over dinner and discuss the key points
of learning during the day.
TGS would like to take this opportunity
to thank all the participants who took part over the week and made
the event a huge success.
