SPOTLIGHT - MICHAEL MAURO
Michael Mauro
In this edition we talk to Michael Mauro, Assistant Service Manager, a fishing and outdoor enthusiast.

How long have you been working for TGS?
I joined the Company on the 4th July 2005.

What is your current role?
My current role is to organise and plan the workload of vehicle orders for the workshops and distribute work throughout the workshops.

Describe briefly your average day at work.
My priority is to organise and allocate work to all the technicians on a daily basis and have vehicle options and spare parts available for fitting. Liaise with the Freight manager regarding shipment of vehicles, so they are ready on time. I also have to carry out general administrative duties.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
What I like best is organising a big group of people and the feedback when everything works out well.

What are the main challenges you face on a day to day basis?
The organisation of the workload to be distributed within all the workshops so that all vehicles are ready on time at the border with Spain. Maintaining a good working environment within all workshops. Ensuring that the team’s efforts are appreciated..

Tell us about your family.

I have been married for 24 years to my wife Yvonne. We have three children: Sallyann, 23 years old, Nathan, 21 years old and Fabian 16 years old

Tell us a bit about what you like to do in your free time.
My main hobby is fishing which I try to do as often as I can. My best catch has been a 5kg conga eel, which I landed on the Detached Mole, situated off Gibraltar’s main port area. I also enjoy camping as I like to travel as often as I can.

What do you like best about living in Gibraltar?
Friendly town and every body knows each other. Also crime level is low.

Any plans for the future?
I hope to be promoted to Workshops Manager one day..
