Bioforce re-visited

TGS further strengthened its partnership with France’s Bioforce (Featured in our November 2009 issue) in May, when Area Managers, Melvin Chellaram and Jan Buhler re-visited its Lyon facilities to lend their expertise and support. This was Melvin’s first visit to Bioforce as Area Manager, and this is what he had to say about his experience there:

“As Area Manager I played a more prominent role than on previous occasions. This was the first time I had to give a (hour-long) presentation to an audience of over one hundred participants. Needless to say, this was a rather daunting prospect, but a few minutes into the presentation I was able to get into my stride and began to feel more comfortable.”

"The training programme lasted five days - a one-day seminar and four days hands-on experience, comprised vehicle maintenance and recovery techniques, as well as off-road driving. We used our Land Cruiser 200 series and Hilux double-cabin to demonstrate the vehicle maintenance and recovery techniques. Our land Cruiser Hardtop models HZJ78L-RJMRS (13 seats) & HZJ76L-RKMRS (10 seats) were put through their paces in the off-road driving sessions".

“Melvin also explained how, as training progressed, both he and the participants felt increasingly confident in their roles, particularly since the programme was specifically approached from a participant’s perspective - with the aim of making the learning process fun as well as valuable. This approach seemed to pay dividends, as Melvin found out from the encouraging feedback received:

“The students responded very positively to the teaching style and methods implemented by the TGS team. They seemed to enjoy the active roles they were asked to perform – so much so, that a few asked if they could come to Gibraltar for an extended course!”
