Nick Prior - Logistics and Administration Manager

Logistics and Administration Manager, Nick Prior, has been with TGS man and boy. An accomplished oarsman and avid cyclist, he’s taken some time out from his busy schedule to tell us a bit about himself.

Tell us what you did before joining TGS.
TGS was my first full-time job after three years at university. There was a break of around five months but the right job came along eventually!

How long have you been working for TGS?
It’ll be fourteen years this coming November.

What is your current role?
I’m the Logistics & Administration Manager.

Describe briefly your average day at work.
I tend to come in quite early so that I can spend some time on my own coordinating forthcoming shipments and planning ahead for the week. The role is quite dynamic which means there are certain issues that may arise which you don’t necessarily plan for but which often have to be tackled with urgency! Given we control the delivery of a large quantity of vehicles to destinations throughout the world, having to deal with issues caused by external factors is something we have to deal with.

What do you enjoy most about your job.
The nature of the work greatly appeals to me, not to mention working with people whom I’ve known for a large part of my life. I consider myself very fortunate to work for such an impressive organisation.

What are the main challenges do you face on a day to day basis?
The challenge is to ensure our high standards are maintained and never lose focus on the most important thing which is customer satisfaction. This is reflected throughout TGS as a whole.

Tell us about your family.
I’m married to Alison and we have two very active kids (Jack and Isabelle, ten and five years old, respectively) who permanently keep us on our toes!

Tell us a bit about what you like to do in your free time.
We do the normal family things and tend to take advantage of the good weather as often as possible by spending time outdoors. Our free time during the current summer months is mostly spent at the beach. On a personal level, I try and stay fit by doing some rowing and cycling and relax reading car magazines, the occasional book and watching football on television.

What do you like best about living/working in Gibraltar.
The fact that you can get around quickly and safely has great appeal, not to mention that it’s where I’ve grown up and where my family lives. It’s an easy place to live which makes life relatively stress-free.

Any plans for the future?
Continue trying to improve systems and methods so that we never lose focus.
