| Since its inception
in 1999, the purpose-built TGS Ambulance workshop has prepared well
over 800 ambulances. The TGS ambulance team is continuously seeking
improvement and proactively establishing improvements to the accessories
which we fit and the way we fit them.
TGS not only has the facilities but also the right
team to respond quickly to urgent customer needs.
The team is led by Darrell Cavilla who has been
with TGS for nearly 5 years. Darrell comes from a steel works and
welding background which stands him in good stead when converting
standard Land Cruisers and Hiaces into ambulances.
Darrell has a team of 4 experienced fitters assisting
him with the preparation of ambulances. The team rarely convert
an ambulance with the same specifications. This is because each
customer has a different set of priorities and needs and therefore
the equipment and accessories which we fit are usually different
each time. Of course beacons, sirens, stretchers and basic first
response kits are normally included in everyone’s ambulance
needs but after that the combinations are endless.
The ambulance team is currently engaged in the
preparation of 18 high-spec Hiace ambulances which will be shipped
out over the coming weeks. With over 73 hours of expert fitting
and conversion work going into each one, these units will certainly
be at the top end of ambulance capabilities and will include a specially
designed EMS (Emergency Management System), fully fitted oxygen
system, main and secondary stretcher, sphygmometer, defibrillator
and vacuum mattress amongst other items.
All in a day’s work for the TGS Ambulance
workshop team which welcomes the challenges and responsibilities
which accompany providing our customers with the high level of service
they expect.
