The HR department commits to provide quality service in a professional,
caring and consistent manner by deploying the best practice in recruitment
and selection, encouraging and enabling personal and professional
growth and the development of individual and teams, developing and
implementing fair and appropriate policies, procedures and rewards
and by supporting and encouraging each other to improve our performance.

Lourdes Barea, CIPD
Human Resources Manager I joined in April 2005 after 20 years
experience in the MOD and 10 of them in the HR department.
My role is a generalist one and I am responsible for all the
HR issues within the group, from recruitment to discharges,
learning and development, performance management and introducing
appropriate procedures and polices that comply with all current
legislation, ensuring fairness and equality of opportunity
for all. I am a qualified HR practitioner and a Licentiate
member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development
(CIPD), as part of my continual professional development I
am undertaking a professional course to gain Chartered membership
of the institute this year. I am also a member of the Chartered
Management Institute.
In my spare time I enjoy reading and keeping fit. I also love
nature and am a member of the local natural history society.

Human Resources Assistant I joined
TGS in Oct 2004 after completing a four years (sandwich) Business
Studies Degree at Southampton Institute.
As a Freight Administrator, I gained invaluable knowledge and
experience about the company’s freight & logistics
operations. After completing three years in the Freight Department,
I was able to transfer to the Human Resources Department as
HR Assistant. In HR I am responsible for the organisation of
Learning & Development, Student work placement , the administration
of Recruitment and Selection and the monitoring of absence amongst
other ad hoc HR tasks. I am currently undertaking a Chartered
Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) course with the aim
to become a qualified HR practitioner and gain the Associate
membership.
I mostly enjoy keeping fit at a local gym, and travelling.
