Offloading new vehicles as they
arrive in Gibraltar, managing the storage of vehicles in multiple
locations around the Rock, bringing sold vehicles out of stock and
delivering them to workshops for accessorisation, cleaning and valeting
vehicles ready for shipment, managing the storage of prepared vehicles
before shipment to final destination – all this, all in a
day’s work for the TGS Vehicle Preparation and Pre-Delivery
Inspection Team.
With an average of 300 vehicles to prepare for shipment every month,
the work of the Pre-Delivery Inspection team is already mapped out.
In an ideal world, the more than 800 vehicles held in stock by
TGS would all be stored under the same roof. However, in reality,
TGS has five different storage locations dotted around the Rock.
This adds complexities to an already arduous task and all the team
are needed to collect and deliver vehicles to the workshops to answer
the numerous customer calls for fast turnaround of orders.
In an ideal world, the monthly arrival of vehicles from Japan would
take place in sunshine and during normal working hours. In reality,
the monthly vessel is offloaded in the early hours of the morning
and often in heavy rain. The PDI team take it all in their stride,
secure in the knowledge that their contribution to the overall TGS
effort is both significant and highly appreciated by all their colleagues. |
