Training Courses Gibraltar/Spain - Visa Requirements
Gibraltar is an independent state and has specific visa
requirements for entry which tend to mirror those for
UK.
In general, citizens of the EU, USA and Japan do not
need a visa for entry into Gibraltar so long as they
are in possession of a valid passport (or EU identity
card valid for travel within the EU). For citizens of
other countries, a visa must be obtained by application
to the British Embassy in the country of residence.
A full list of countries whose citizens require a visa
is at Annex.
Visa applications usually need to be accompanied by
a letter of invitation from the sponsoring organisation
(TGS), which has to be sent to the Embassy concerned
and to the Immigration Department of the Gibraltar Government.
This process takes time, and visitors are advised to
allow
4 - 6 weeks for the processing of the necessary visa
for Gibraltar. First step is to contact TGS for up to
date advice, providing a copy of the visitor's passport
in order to start the process of invitation.
As most of our training courses involve spending part
of the time in Spain, a valid Schengen visa is also
required. This should be obtained from the Spanish Embassy
in the country of residence. A separate letter of invitation
is not normally required, but can be provided by TGS
on request.
Please note that the Schengen
visa alone is NOT sufficient for entry into Gibraltar.
